Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Uncovered
According to the official release, "A mysterious confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of prohibited practices and terrifying transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden cult.
The questline focuses on "bizarre trials and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Material
Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an unique katana alongside several items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This release also brings the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This signifies not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
